TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS
- Trail Length – 100 Mile Snowmobile System, 20 Mile ORV System and working to be expanded!
- Year Established – Officially established in 1973, formed from the consolidation of two different clubs dating back to the 1960’s.
- Number of Acres – Our system runs through the 990,000 acre Ottawa National Forest, Gogebic County forest and over 50 private landowners covering 2/3rds of Gogebic County, MI. The furthest western county in all of Michigan
- Number of Groomers – We utilize the best in Grooming equipment using a 2016 Tucker Deep Snow SnoCat, 2013 New Holland T7-210 Soucy and 2009 New Holland 6070 Soucy
- Number of Staff – We are a 100% all volunteer un-paid labor force. Our board features 4 officers and 5 trustees who execute the business of the club.
- Parking and Trail Access Points – Red’s Auto Parking Lot (It is NOT a lake anymore), Stemphiar Parking Lot, Wakefield MDOT Park and Ride, Ramsay MDOT Park and Ride, Wakefield Park and Ride
- Trail Surface – Much of our currently mapped trail system is gravel rail trail. We are working to map more.
- Detailed Map – MDNR Gogebic County Map – Maps are available by mail via Western Up Convention and Visitors Bureau – I included maps from the MSAsnow.org trail reports page – they are not the most accurate but are good representations.
- Activities – April 1- Nov 30 ORV trails open to include all users, we don’t discriminate! Our trails are ORV routes without size restrictions. Snowmobile trails can open 12/1-3/31 pending conditions
- Number of Bridges – 15+, including the Ramsay Keystone Bridge
- Number of Rest Areas – We are filled with over 25 different bars and 15+ quality resturants, almost all of whom sponsor the club.
- Number of Lookout Points – Trail 2 Morgan Mine Pipeline Lookout, Indianhead Sky Bar Lookout, Bald Mountain “NORTH” lookout viewing Madeline Island/ mouth of the Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior, Bald Mountain “SOUTH” lookout viewing Gogebic Range (Powderhorn, Copper Peak), Montreal River Gorge look out, Superior Falls Waterfall Complex as well as Gabbro Falls 50’ off snowmobile trail 2.
